Although the town of Torremolinos can be traced back as far as the Bronze Age the principal records date from around 1500 when it was linked to the Siege of Malaga and was known as Molinos de la Torre. Real growth however, has taken place since the 1960's when tourism took hold.
The expansion of Malaga Airport in recent times further aided the development of tourism and now, the opening of a second terminal promises to make travel to Torremolinos even easier. Car parking in conjunction with the new terminal is excellent and extremely convenient. There are good rail and bus links to the town and of course many "air conditioned" taxi's.

In the town you will find the most professional estate agents able to converse in many languages, lawyers, doctors, dentists, banking information plus on our site detail & phone numbers to help you with the Spanish Authorities. Medical care is first class - the new & excellent Costa del Sol Hospital is no more than 25 minutes in the direction of Marbella. English, newspapers from all parts of the world are in the newsagents each morning before 9am.
We have an array of good quality sports and recreation facilities both in and around Torremolinos. There are gym´s, dive centres and virtually every outdoor activity close to the centre. Special mention should be given to our competition standard golf courses close by - these courses are available to non members, tuition is available and equipment can be hired.
Horse riding on the outskirts of Torremolinos is a must if you enjoy this activity but if your interest in horses is strictly as a spectator, then the Hippodrome may well be for you. Recently built, the "Hipodromo del Costa del Sol" is just ten minutes from Torremolinos and makes for a great family night out.
You are sure to enjoy the wide range of good quality restaurants available right here in the town or scattered in every direction close by. They Range from the most simple to the most expensive and include Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, French, plus a wide selection of Spanish restaurants keen to display their expertise. Restaurant prices are very low in this part of Spain when compared with the cities of Northern Europe but the standard is very high.
Torremolinos as a holiday base is perfect at any time of the year. Our climate is such that you will be able to enjoy the indoor / outdoor lifestyle which has made the Costa so popular for so many years. Within easy reach of Torremolinos are all of the internationally famous names such as Puerto Banus, Marbella and Fuengirola.
For the kids there is plenty to do, we are minutes from Tivoli World, the Fuengirola Zoo, Sea Life and then of course the wonderful beaches and splash parks - for the "big kids" Marbella & Torrequebrada Casinos, The Hipodromo and lots more.
